One of the best preserved medieval towns of Germany, Rothenburg ob der Tauber transforms into a winter fairy tale every year in Christmas times.
The Christmas market’s tradition started in Rothenburg in the 15th Century and it’s presented 500 years of tradition and culture.
The small town with timbered framed houses and cobblestone streets look totally magical in the Christmas festivity.
The Christmas Market of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is also called Reiterlesmarkt due to the Medieval history of the town.
The narrow streets of the town are lit up and fully crowded with the tourists. The town within the defense towers and gates look so wonderful and mesmerizing during Christmas times. The famous cobblestone streets of Rothenburg like Spitalgasse and Obere Schiedgasse are decorated with lights.
The main Christmas Market was set up in Marktplatz in front of Town hall. The tall Christmas tree was placed in the centre of the market and its surrounded with stalls offering Christmas traditional snacks like Mandels, Wurst, Pommes, Schneeballs, Crepes and Glühwein.
